Lego Harley Davidson Custom 'Ratted' Bagger

TLCB Master MOCer Dennis Glaasker (aka Bricksonwheels) is back with another incredible motorcycle. His latest is a custom Harley Davidson ‘Ratted’ Bagger, and it’s both wonderfully odd and beautiful all at the same time. You can see more of Dennis’ bike and his previous builds at his Flickr photostream – click here to join the ride.

Lego Scooter

Scooters are not our usual fare at The Lego Car Blog, but as there are far more on the roads worldwide than cars they should probably appear here more often. This neat Model Team scooter has been built by MOCpages’ Zhan James, and there’s more to see here.

You wait ages for a hot-air-balloon motorbike, and then two come along at once! Today’s second cunning use of LEGO’s balloon pieces comes from Flickr’s F@bz, and you can see more of his Yamaha Spectrum motorcycle concept at the link above.

Lego Kawasaki Police Motorcycle

TLCB favourite Ralph Savelsberg is back with another superb TV show build, although this time it’s one that no-one in TLCB Towers has heard of.

CHiPs was apparently an American 1970s-1980s cop drama, featuring California Highway Patrol’s finest law enforcers, some lovely Kawasaki 1000 motorbikes, and lots of ridiculous freeway pile-ups. We think the Elves would probably love it.

There’s more to see of Ralph’s latest build on Flickr – click this link to hit the on-ramp.

Lego Akira Kaneda's Bike

Kaneda’s Bike from Akira has appeared here several times over the years, but no attempt had been made at a mini-figure scale version – so difficult is the build even in a large scale – until now.

TLCB favourite _Tiler, who we think might be the best Town-scale builder anywhere, has finally allowed Kaneda to feature in mini-figure form, and a stunning job he’s done too.

You can see more of mini-fig-Kaneda’s Bike at _Tiler’s Flickr photostream via the link above, where there are also instructions available, and you can see the larger recreations that have featured here in the past by using the search function at the foot of this page.

Lego Space Bike

TLCB has been very red of late, with seven of the last eight creations featured being crimson in hue. There might have been some kind of Elf pact going on, but today we can add some colour diversity to this page with a neat laid-back spacey motorcycle.

Featuring Classic Space’s iconic blue and grey colour scheme, a nifty bubble canopy, and a permanently smiling mini-figure, newcomer Brian Grissom‘s ‘LL-513 Surveillance Rover’ could have come straight from the late ’80s. Jump back in time with Brian’s photostream via the link above.

Lego Tron Light Cycle

What with it being the first day of the New Year, The Lego Car Blog Elves think they are now living in the future. Because they’re idiots. It’ll wear off soon, but until then they’ve gone all sci-fi.

As such, here’s a slick Tron Light Cycle from Flickr’s MortalSwordsman, complete with a rather alluring rider, and a brilliant Classic Space lunar exploration vehicle from Flickr’s Alec Hole. You can see more of each via the links above.

Lego Technic 851 Tractor Motorcycle Helipcopter

LEGO’s vintage Technic sets may not have the visual or mechanical sophistication of today’s products, but their basic pieces and simple studs-up construction make them wonderfully playable.

Brickshelf’s tab models demonstrates this vintage versatility beautifully with his gallery of alternative builds, all built using the pieces from the ancient 851 Tractor set.

Amongst his creations are a motorcycle, road-roller, dragster, helicopter and lawn-mower, with many more available to view at his Brickshelf gallery. All include working features, and all prove you don’t need a Bricklink account to build a range of quality creations from our favourite brick-based toy.

Check out the full gallery of 851 Alternates on Brickshelf via the link above.

Triumph Rocket III

The Elves have been making ‘Brrrum Brrruuum’ noises and riding around the office on assorted kitchen equipment today. We have the creation pictured here to thank for this annoyance; it’s a Triumph Rocket III and it is – in fairness to the little turds – most excellent in every way. Previous bloggee Henrik Jensen is the builder and there’s lots more to see of his brilliant British bike on both MOCpages and Flickr – click the links to mount up.

Lego Ducati 1199 Motorcycle

This brilliant Ducati 1199 Panigale was suggested by several readers, and it gave us a bit of a categorisation dilemma here in TLCB Office. There are Technic, System and even Town parts contained within it (see if you can find the crossbow!), and the beauty of LEGO is that they all mesh together wonderfully to create an authentic looking replica motorcycle.

In the end we settled on ‘Model Team’, Gerald Cacas is the builder behind it, and you can see more of his Ducati – and the parts inventiveness used to create it – on Flickr at the link above.

Lego Vespa Scooter

We have a penchant for fast and loud vehicles here at The Lego Car Blog, but we do also like more humble transportation. The motorcycle is the world’s most popular powered vehicle and Italian manufacturer Vespa are one of the most famous and iconic brands in the marketplace. This wonderful replica of their little P200 scooter comes from Lego-building masterminds Avro Brothers, and it could only be more beautiful if there were an attractive Italian girl riding it. There’s more to see on Flickr at the link above, ciao!

Lego Post-Apoc Motorcycle

The Lego Car Blog Elves love post-apocalyptic violence. Possibly because they secretly harbour thoughts of a victorious Elven uprising that results in a brutal Elf-ruled dystopia. For now though thankfully these dreams only manifest themselves when they watch Mad Max films and an Elf gets run over by a colleague riding the wheeled mop-bucket.

This particular TLCB writer finds the choice of transportation in the aforementioned films an odd one though. Always hugely over-powered, flame-spitting and gloriously thirsty, post-apoc vehicles seem completely opposed to what you would actually want in a world short on gas and spare parts. The perfect post-apoc vehicle is surely a Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf or Honda Insight. Reliable, efficient, and quiet.

And boring. Which is why movies shun their practicalities in favour of vehicles like this one. It’s a post-apoc chopper by Flickr’s Stephan Johnsson, and it fits the over-powered, flame-spitting and gloriously thirsty category perfectly. Entitled ‘Wasteland Roamer’ Stephan’s creation is beautifully constructed and there’s more to see at his phtostream – click the link above to fire it up.

Lego Technic Motorcycle

The key ingredient to how fast a motorbike can go isn’t the engine, or the brakes, or the suspension. It’s the bag of meat in the middle, far more so than in a car. Unfortunately it’s usually this component that lets the bike down, often with tragic consequences. Still, if you or someone you love needs a new kidney, an ambitious biker could be just the ticket…

Most Technic motorbikes ignore the crucial component that is the rider, however newcomer Nikolay has built something quite remarkable – because his stunning Technic motorbike works. And not just in the usual way (piston engine, steering and suspension), but in that it features actual functioning controls for the throttle, brakes, clutch and gearbox – all as you would find them on a real bike. If you could find a rider small enough this incredible model really could be ridden…

Lego Technic Motorbike

Well, it could if it had a motor on board. Luckily for our Elves – who would have been used as guinea pigs if a motor were present – Nikolay’s bike is much too small to contain one. Nevertheless, this superb creation features some spectacular and highly original engineering (unlike a recently launched official LEGO Technic set). The best way to see how it works is by video, and fortunately Nikolay has produced an excellent one to accompany his build. See what this bike can do below, plus you can see all the images on Flickr here and you can join the discussion at the Eurobricks forum here.

Lego Chopper Motorcycle

This gloriously impractical yet breathtakingly beautiful motorcycle is the work of Flickr’s redfern1950s. Copper probably isn’t the most suitable material for a bike, seeing as it gets very hot and it also goes green, but gosh is it pretty. It’s a shame its primary use is unseen in your central heating system really. Redfern’s put it to much better aesthetic use though, and you can see more of this stunning creation at his photostream via the link above.

Harley-Davidson 1200cc Sportster

Despite having an engine the same size as this writer’s first car, Harley-Davidsons are not fast bikes. But they do make a noise like a naval gun and that’s pretty cool, unless you’re trying to leave the house in the early hours of the morning, in which case your entire street will hate you. However, ride one during sociable hours and little else is cooler.

This top quality Model Team recreation of the Harley-Davidson 1200cc Sportster comes from Andre Pinto and it looks loud even in the pictures! There’s more to see on both Eurobricks and Flickr – click the links for all the images.

Today is America’s Independence Day, when – if our memory serves us correctly – Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum saved Earth from an Alien invasion. In celebration, here’s a pig on a motorbike! Sorry America, we’ve had a lot of sugar today.

Lego Police Chopper Motorbike

Redfern1950s continues his run of beautifully designed motorcycles with this absolutely gorgeous police-issue chopper. Redfern is very probably the king of motorbike detailing at the moment, and his latest work also comes in civilian flavour too (see below), but that one doesn’t allow for a witty title. You can see more of both builds at Redfern’s photostream – click here to make the jump to Flickr.
